For my fourth and final blog post, I decided to write a poem because I thought it would be a fun way, at least for me, to end the semester. My inspiration for this poem is my boyfriend, and I plan to surprise him with it for our year and 1/2 anniversary on April 24th. =)

A Year and ½ Full of Perfection

A year and 1/2 ago today,

You stole my heart and made me pray-

That you and I will last forever,

Through tragic days and stormy weather.

That never again will my heart ache for a lover,

For I’ve found him now; the greatest thing to discover!

And now I have someone to laugh with, to hold,

And even to die with upon growing old.

For I want to live my whole life by your side,

And hold you forever with arms open wide.

Your touch brings serenity into my soul,

It makes me feel welcome; it makes me feel whole!

You’re a dream come true to this shy little girl,

You understood me from the start and let me into your world.

With you, I never feel a bit out of place,

I can always be myself as you embody me with grace.

You are my precious angel and I love you more than life,

I just can’t wait to say “I do;” can’t wait to be you wife!

My desperate search for companionship

Has finally reached its end,

And those three words said- “I love you”

Will never be pretend.

I dreamt up my soul mate for what I hoped he would be

And you have surpassed my every wish.

I never would have thought that in a world so broken,

Someone so perfect could exist.

I live to be with you,

To kiss and to hold you forever!

And regardless what society thinks,

Our love will not seize- not ever!

We battled hard and fought for each other

As people tried to tear us apart.

But little did they know, their efforts were useless,

‘Cuz we’re connected at the heart.

Your gentle kiss upon my lips

Brings that smile to my face.

And then I love to put my head on your chest

To listen to your heart race.

 When you caress my hand to shield the cold,

Our fingers lock together.

I tighten the grasp and think to myself-

“Our bond will last forever.”

I’m so glad to call you my first love

And I hope that you’re my last

‘Cuz I can’t imagine life without you,

We’ve just grown so close, so fast.

So thanks again for being you;

So gentle, warm, and kind.

I want you mine forever

And I’ll never change my mind.
